Theme: Closing the Achievement Gap

This program brings together educational stakeholders to develop strategies for closing the achievement gap between rural public primary schools and other better funded primary schools in Kenya. Invited participants include school administrators, teachers, government Education Officers and community leaders.

This inaugural program will engage educational stakeholders in developing strategies to lift academic standards for students in rural primary schools in order to establish a competitive edge with their peers in other settings.

Participants will engage with conference presenters on proven and comprehensive strategies to build effective administrative and management systems, cultivating productive partnerships with various stakeholders and motivating students to succeed.

Conference Facilitators

Dr. Peter Gitau is the Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of the African Ipeter_gitau_southern_illinois_carbondale1nternational Foundation for Educational Excellence (AIFEE). Previously, he was Co- Founder and Executive Director of Teach My Kenyan Children (TMKC). Dr. Gitau is also the Vice President for Student Affairs at Northern Kentucky University in the United States. He is a proven leader with many years of executive leadership and management experience both nationally and internationally.

Mr. Andra’ Ward is the President and CEO of The Khafre Ward Corporation.  He is an Mr. Wardaccomplished and results-oriented consultant and master facilitator with over 20 years of experience working with individuals, teams, and executives in human resources development. His expertise is in guiding individuals and organizations toward personal or organizational effectiveness by maximizing individual leadership competencies, enhancing productivity through cultural agility, leveraging thinking and effective communication styles, and framing diversity/inclusion awareness and skills to enhance business results through personal and corporate accountability.

Ms. Shannon Green is a Founding Board member and Treasurer for AIFEE and a PhD Ms. Greenstudent in Early Childhood Education at Southern Illinois University. Shannon teaches courses in Early Childhood Education and Family Studies and serves as a faculty mentor for early childhood education students. She looks forward to returning to Kenya in January to facilitate educational problem solving using the United Nations model of Education for Sustainable Development.

Registration Information

The conference is limited to 50 participants only who must register ahead of time. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. AIFEE will provide lunch and tea during the conference. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation.
